Boston welcomes Dr Bishnu Pariyar as the Director of its MBA program.

I currently hold the position of Director for MBA Programme (Pokhara University affiliated) at Boston International College.

I graduated with a First Class BA (Hon) degree from the University of York, United Kingdom in 2006, which was followed a PhD degree in Social Policy and Environment (Institutional Economics focused) from the same university in 2010. I was a Post-doctoral Research Fellow between 2012-2015 at the University of Leeds, United Kingdom. Before arriving at Boston International College, I held the position of University Tutor at the University of Sheffield where I taught a range of social science modules including Space, Place and the City, Advance Research Methods, Sociology, and Ideas that Changed the World among other.

Upon my return from the United Kingdom in 2020, I initiated an integrated ‘agro-eco-tourism’ venture called the Goatland Group bringing a coalition of investors from more than 15 countries. Goatland aims to combine technology, business and community together for a sustainable ‘agro-eco-tourism’ venture to attract young entrepreneurs in the sector. In doing so, Goatland Group has focused on a range of aspects of business development such as system integration, product diversification, risk analysis and mitigation, agriculture products auction, market access through productive alliance, and collaboration with the community and the local government.

My research interests continue to be associated with aspects of agribusiness and rural economy. In particular, my research and advocacy work involves policy reforms for youth entrepreneurship development, business start-ups and the interlink between the local governance and business development especially in the context of newly established federalism in Nepal. I am also interested in the trickle down effects of business interventions within the community setting particularly in relation to environmental sustainability, community cohesion and climate change.

I am also interested in teaching and scholarships including pedagogy, technology enhanced learning (TEL), blended and flipped learning methodologies and learning through peer observations.

I am willing to supervise students specially in their thesis/research projects, which are within my area of research expertise and interests.
